RESEARCH

In carrying out our mission, the Nebraska Council on Compulsive Gambling reviews the significant amount of research that is regularly forwarded to us. Many times the research points out the negative side of gambling on individuals and communities. There is, however, research that shows gambling's negative impact is no more destructive than other disorders already prevalent in our society. As we continue down the road of determining the true impact of gambling, it is imperative we look at all sides of the debate and enter into a rational discussion of the true impact of gambling on our state. The purpose of the Nebraska Council is to provide awareness that problem gamblers exist and we are neither for nor against gambling, but instead are for problem gamblers and their families getting qualified, timely services to help them overcome their gambling problem. Please join us in a rational debate around gambling and support helping families affected by pathological and problem gambling.
